I was testing out my camo outfit and was able to get to within 8 feet of this swallow perched on top of a no entry sign. Now I am wondering whether this chap is not afraid of humans or did my camo thingy really worked

Wow, nice shot. Love the background too
Did you approach him with your camera mounted on a tripod or was this a handheld shot ? |

Joe,
Good shot with nice background. Would prefer to crop off more of the bottom part, the white portion is rather distracting. (maybe crop off about half of the white portion showing in the pic). That said, good capture, keep practicing, maybe find a LTS to practice on (they are the most skittish).

Nevermind, it still looks better with most of the white cropped off.

Nice one Joe!
IMHO, it is hard to comment whether is it due to your camo setup or the swallow. These babies can be pretty forgiving at times.

Joe, wow...that's a close encounter
I and ccplim had such similar experience with pacific spallows before, we were able to approach them at a very close distance without any camo nets or objects to cover ourselves. These buggers simply 'bochap' us. Another ecounter with these birdies was at Eco-Lake. Before I can do anything, the swallows just flew off when they spotted me from a far. So I guess sometime is luck that counts. Cheers

I'm amazed with the details on the bird, well done. Try shooting at eye-level if possible.
