Default My first contribution

Manage to squeeze an hour in the morning to shoot before starting another busy working day. Only managed to find this fella...

Very nice Arthur. The Panasonic Lumix FZ10 seems to do a great job even with a convertor in front. This combo may give more expensive equipment a run for the money judging by your post. I am curious about the focal length achieved by the equipment (is it about 800mm?) and do you get stabilization with the convertor on ?
Regards,
Sumit

Thanks for your kind words Sumit With the combination, I'm able to get a total focal distance of 924mm (FZ10 full zoom: 420mm x 2.2X TC) and yes, still able to AF and the cam's optical image stabilizer seem to be working fine...so far no problem.

Cheers

Did you use your camo net for all your recent shots?

Yes, I used a camo net to cover myself when shooting most of my recent photos and managed to catch some good full frame shots - those tiger shrikes shots. Think now a lot of my neighbours think I a bit 'Quay Seow' coz I shot the pics in my neighbourhood.

I recently also realised that by squatting down and move in slowly, it is also possible to obtain similar result. The above pic of the KF was using this method and there were no bushes or trees in the surrounding where I can hide myself.

Cheers

hi Arthur,

Your shot is Truly not bad for a supposedly cheapo setup . BTW, where did you buy the Raynox DCR2020 2.2X, and how much did you pay for it? Did you shoot it handheld, or with a monopod?

I used to have a FZ10 too, but sold it away...now I regret...

Thanks calvinlo I am lucky to get it from a shooting buddy at S$280. He is planning to upgrade to a DSLR. The shot was taken handheld and in a squatting position.

Cheers

Yes without camo net. I have tried squatting moving in method on mynas, sparrows, crows and pigeons and now KF....seem to work so far.

Cons of squatting moving in method: Veri veri trouldsome, time consuming and exhausting (especially on my pair of legs).

Cheers

Thanks for the kind words Fred

Hi ParkertR, nice to see you here Not already Mega Zoom lah, just trying to get the max. reach at a min. cost you should take a look at the Canon 1200mm tele Sure we can always go shooting during the weekends (if I'm not working)...I should be quite free after mid-April.

Cheers
