While in Vietnam, I came across this structure. It could be the solution for those looking for a solid floating hide!

1) It is shaped like a bird that breaks our outlines. This translate to mean that the subjects(birds) will probably be more tolerant of the photographers on it. Yes, it can take two photographers at one time (if you are willing to squeeze).
2) You can mount your tripod and long lenses on it.
3) You will be in a sitting position with back support (very comfortable!).
4) Much stable than other smaller floating devices.
5) If the photographer is alone, there is ample space to put other equipments, camera bag, laptor, bottles of drinks, MP3 player etc...you named it.
6) It can be paddled so only the feet are working. Less movements of the arms and body etc leaving the hands to operate the camera fully.
7) There is a cover to provide shade for the photographer.
8) When it is not used for photography, you can take your love ones for a cruise on it.
9) You can paint it in whichever colour you like, named it or have your lukcy number imprint on it.
10) It does not need petrol to operate. Low cost maintenance.

Well, the list goes on.......

Good one there SK. :D Think we should start a MO for some of these 'birds', they could come in useful at that pond. And when not using them, can rent them out to leisure paddlers. :p
