Dear all,
It was mentioned in of the threads here
(http://www.avianwatchasia.org/forums/showthread.php?t=217) about
shooting from inside the car. I find this to be interesting especially I am in
process of buying a car. The question I have are:
1. where in Singapore you can shoot from inside the car?
2. do I need a 4x4/SUV? If it is preferred due to the road condition or the
height of the vehicle?
3. do birds sensitive to the color of vehicle if it is used as a 'hide'?
Thanks
Lee

1) There are lots of places , even at places that you wouldnt imagine got birdies
2) A 4x4 does help in places where the terrain is not suitable for normal saloon car. Plus SUVs tend to have higher ground clearance and have more advantages over saloons. You won't go wrong with a SUV :D
3) Colour ? Not really.

1. Quite a few places. But the number is fast decreasing.
2. Not really. All depends on how hard you want to push your vehicle. I've managed fine in a Vios/Sunny, auto somemore. In those hard-to-reach places, having a 4x4 helps, with its 4WD, additional torque, etc.
3. I don't think so. I get the same reaction from birds, whether I'm in a black, orange or grey car. You'll most likely spook them by the way you drive.

Lower tire pressure to move around in sandy areas, but dun push it too much... A new car, you will try to baby it for a while before trashing it like what I do... Colors treat the birds color blind, but reflective surfaces should be minimized. Once, I spooked KFs because I forgot to turn off the head lights... they treat them as eyes I suppose... no sudden movements, maintain eye contact with the bird at all times. Remember in the army days how to make a vehicle blend in? I get some camo scarves.. put on the window sill, works like a beanie... gives you more height cleanrance cheaply.. oh yah.. big windows does better... SUVs and vans have that.. make sure your windows can fully go down too! :)

I see, I see....Thanks guys for the valuable input. I just came back from the
Volvo showroom test driving the V50 (wagon), great car but too small. The
XC90 is great  but can not afford one.
BTW can someone give me examples where in Singapore I can shoot from indside the car? Can wait to try it out this Saturday.
Cheers,
Lee
