Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 Nikon Mount

Hi..

New birdier here ...got questions to ask and hooping to get some help for answer...i itend to buy the nikon mount sigma 120-300 f2.8 lens.

questions is hows the lens and image quality , is it worthwhile to get this lens ? how reliable is this lens...i have heard consistently talks about sigma's lens poor reliability ...is 300mm good enough for birding to get the reach ? even couple says with 2x tc ?

300+1.4TC is a very very versatile walking lens. Besides general birding can still use for sports and action in low lighting. If it is for birding use, you need to take into account the monopod, flash, ballhead and the cam body. I tried it out for 2 months, good for building arm and shoulder muscles. Using with D2X of coz can give you excellent reach... I was using a D2H, so I could not get what I needed.

Personally, I find it just a bit short for birding... you should certainly use 1.4X or 2X converter. I like to move around easily and thus ends up with the BIGMA 50-500mm, even at 500mm, it can still be short :wahpiang:

Having said that it is a great lens, I believe wkcheah can vouch for that! If you are interested, I think someone at Clubsnap is trying to sell this with 2X Converter.
