Which speedlight should I get if I'm using it for shooting only wild birds and nothing else ?

Using a D70 body at the moment.

Thanks.

The SB-800 is the only way to go. Nothing else. Its one of the best flashes out there at the moment. Retailing for ard $600+ I think.

You might be interested in getting the Better Beamer flash extender as well. Last I knew, Konota at Peninsular Plaza was retailing it (abt $70).

Nowadays seldom turn on my flash liao. Birdies too far away.

SB800 with a Better Beamer is definately good if the subject is nearby.

Using natural light will definately be better. Plus if you can get a picture with the catchlight on the eyes from the surrounding lights will be better.

Ok. Thanks for sharing your views guys :thumb:

I'll observe what some of you are using (especially the SB 800 + better beamer thingy) a little more closely during our 1st AWA outing in the near future

Sam,

I thought you have seen me using it when we went to Jeludong tower previously?

Sam,

I thought you have seen me using it when we went to Jeludong tower previously? Yup. But at that time I wasn't making a buying decision mah, so other than just checking out the cool looking setup, I didn't really examine everything closely to see how it works and study the " use vs don't use " effects on the images captured.

I see. It's just a very simple setup.

The entire concept is just to place a piece of "magnifying glass" in front of the flash to extend the range :)

I agreed with the rest that SB800 is the best choice now. Plus can do remote triggering with the help on the built in flash. Good for macro also. :)
