Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find locations for birding in the west side. Is West Coast Park one of them? I know of SBWR and its very far and I don't know how can you guys go there so early. So, I'm looking for alternative locations in the west.

Thanks,
Don.

Check out the cemeteries in the west. Plenty of birds there :)

The Jurong Bird Park is an excellent place to sharpen your bird shooting skills... the SE Asia aviary is a very challenging place, and so are the open ponds.

Ditto MM...

One of the best place to take solid closeup shots!! Go in the early morning when the sun is out lah...

Although I know some people go at night

Oh Yes... try the open fields outside IMM (Giant), there are some cotton and other egrets there... again tough bird as they are generally white!! Remember to -EVs...... Alternatively, try Keppel Country Club, there are some resident eagles there

Try west coast in 1-2 months time, you'll see honey buzzards. Even now, you should see at least 6-8 Braminy's circle and play at the tall trees. The garden birds are also all at West coast park, but the marsh land seems quite sterile to me.

Hi Don, nice to see u here and your interest in our feathered friends growing. ;)

In addition to the places listed, you can also try Bukit Batok Nature Park. Many birds including Laughing thrush, yellow vented bulbuls, greater racket tailed drongo, sunbirds, orioles, woodpeckers etc. can be found there.

Sure, but how's the road/trail? cos my bike's tyre is semi-slick, so those muddy roads will be not good for my bike. We'll see how la. ;p

By the way guys, what kind of clothings should I wear? black? I guess I'll need to camo my lens (white) too? I read the other thread about hides and camo netting. sounds kinda extreme to me (maybe for now, as I'm new). hehe. Thanks!

Don't think so as long as you don't wear any real badges or insignia.
All the items in those outfits can be bought off the shelf in Beach Road shops.
However, I will go only as far as camo vest, scarf and jungle hat. ;)
