I really want a bigger, bader tele lense than my 70-300mm.
It will take lots of time to save up though. I'm happy with my gear, so I'll do the best with what I got.
Anyways, what's the best bang for the buck?
Been looking on the Bigma 50-500mm  Good lense?
I don't have any problems if it's a prime lense, just as long as it's at least 400mm and sharp.
Thanks,
Alex.

Alexander,
I recently went through the same exercise.
If you look on Clubsnap world of nature there are several threads that look at the various zoom lenses.
I chose the Tamron 200 - 500 and you can see some of my photos on this forum.
Both the Tamron and the Bigma are big heavy lenses which tends to limit the way they are used.
A prime 400 will cost more but may be the better way to go if you are to use it for many years to come, I'm at the other end of the age range and couldn't justify the expense. The prime will also give you a better result if you want to use tele converter as well.
The 70 - 300 you are using to good effect seems sharp and good colour, have you tried a tele converter with that ??
Just my penny worth.

hmmm.. 70-300 cannot stack Tc, the prob is that ur image will be very soft. and erm... yah... the focus may start to hunt. and may lose af as well...
OK... i saw a Leica 560mm i dunno wad mount. i dunno if its AF, but its at TCW for a LONG time already.
and at Alex photo, a Sigma AF 400mm F/5.6 is out for sale. i dunno if it belong to a Nikon mount too. but should be very cheap. this is a ancient AF lens.
but let me know about the price and mount if u were to ask the owner...
Tokina is good too. Sigma Primes are lost.. cant seem to find them either... hahahaha....
